Elon Musk says Tesla is working to produce ‘Blade Runner’ pickup truck and much more

In an interview with Recode, Elon Musk discussed the details of Tesla’s upcoming pickup truck. The Tesla CEO claimed that the design will be “futuristic-like cyberpunk, Blade Runner pickup truck” and that he doesn’t care whether people buy it or not. It seems as though Musk has forgotten the purpose of a business is to earn profits.

“I’m personally super-excited by this pickup truck. It’s something I’ve been wanting to make for a long time. And I’ve been iterating sort of designs with Franz … It’s like I really wanted something that’s like super-futuristic cyberpunk. Which, if it doesn’t … if I’m weirdly like … if there’s only a small number of people that like that truck, I guess we’ll make a more conventional truck in the future. But it’s the thing that I am personally most fired up about. It’s gonna have a lot of titanium.”

Musk has discussed his plans for a Tesla pickup truck for quite some time. He first announced plans for the truck at the Tesla Semi event, and later said that it would be the company’s next release after the company produced the Model Y SUV. He has since said that the pickup truck is his “personal favourite” of Tesla’s upcoming cars. However, he wouldn’t say why yet because he doesn’t want to reveal too much before its release.

“Well I can’t talk about the details, but it’s gonna be like a really futuristic-like cyberpunk, “Blade Runner” pickup truck. It’s gonna be awesome, it’s gonna be amazing. This will be heart-stopping. It stops my heart. It’s like, oh, it’s great.”

Nonetheless, we do have some details about the latest ‘Blade Runner’ pickup. Last June, Musk discussed the model in June, saying it would have “crazy” features like dual motor all-wheel drive and “suspension that dynamically adjusts for load”. Musk also claimed the truck would have an automated feature that would allow it to park itself.

The pickup truck is one of many vehicles Tesla plans to produce over the next couple years. In addition to the Model Y crossover SUV and the new Tesla Semi, Musk has discussed the need for a “high passenger-density urban transport”.

Also, the CEO highlighted more details about the new revamp of the company’s Roadster. According to Musk, it will be the fastest sports car in terms of acceleration, top speed, and handling. Supposedly, it will run on electric power at a much higher speed than any gasoline-powered sports car. Musk says this model will show “electric is the new architecture” for car manufacturing.

Also, while Tesla may conduct an electric bike, but there’s little chance of an electric scooter because “it lacks dignity”.

Musk made these comments in a 79-minute interview with Kara Swisher on the Recode Decode podcast. In addition to discussing Tesla’s upcoming models, he claimed that he ‘probably’ wouldn’t accept Saudi funding from now on, endorsed Trump’s “space force idea, and discussed his mistakes on Twitter.
